APL Charities

Within the framework of its annual Fundraising Campaign, the APL calls upon the generosity of parents, companies and all those who wish to improve the school life of the Lycée’s 3900 students.

Every year the APL Committee raises funds for the two charities associated with the Lycée, the Friends of the Lycée and the APL Welfare Fund.

Friends of the Lycée” finances school equipment which benefit the pupils on a daily basis.

The “APL Welfare Fund” helps some fifty students this year by financing part of their school fees. The APL Welfare Fund embodies the solidarity between families of the Lycée.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Fundraising campaign and Gala Dinner raised more than £125,000 allowing the two charities to function fully. The APL Committee would like to take this opportunity to thank all its generous donors.

The APL Welfare Fund is a charity, the object of which is to help children of families facing financial difficulties. It achieves this by three means:

  • Contributing in specific cases to the school fees, school lunches, exam fees or the cost of school books.
  • Awarding up to 3 Scholarships annually to students in the British Section, chosen for their academic excellence.
  • Contributing towards the cost of school trips.

In 2008/29, the Welfare Fund helped around 80 pupils to continue their studies at the Lycée, and contributed to the cost of school trips for another 30 pupils.

Funding for the APL Welfare Fund comes from the APL Fundraising Campaign, donations from APL members at the beginning of the year, the Xmas Fair, the sale of Pains au chocolat in the secondary school and through Gift Aid.
